Grace Zhou, a national award-winning scientist, is President and Professor of Shenzhen International Institute for Biomedical Research (SIIBR) and CEO of ImmVira Co., Ltd. She obtained a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry, Chinese Academy of Science in 1998. Then she moved to United States and joined the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral fellow. She had studied gene regulation during HSV-1 lytic and latent infection, oncolytic HSV for cancer treatment in U of C until end of 2013. She is a co-author on over 40 peer-reviewed publications and 14 patents. She was received the “Women in Science Award” selected by International Society for Antiviral Research in 2019.
In addition to basic research, she is co-founder and CEO of Immvira to develop a broad range of anti-cancer therapies based on genetically engineered viruses augmented by cancer specific immune factors or chemotherapeutic agents that can be delivered intratumorally or systemically.
